I love being in an environment where people are all working to become better, stronger, fitter and faster.
For Jessica, she never thought much about her health or fitness level until life decided to test her. After complete reconstruction of her left knee, she was driven to make both health and fitness the main priorities in her life.
Fast forward a few years and she has made physical fitness her career. “I began teaching group fitness classes at a local boutique gym. It wasn’t long before I realized that as much as I loved helping people push the limits of their fitness, I also loved to push the limits of my fitness as well.”
Jessica discovered Black Box Fitness in 2012 and has been a devoted member of our community ever since.
In 2016, Jessica participated in the CrossFit Open and performed so well, she nearly clinched a spot at the regionals level in these increasingly competitive national games. She has also competed at the Rx level in various other elite events, including the Wodapalooza Fitness Festival.
“I am now a competitive weightlifter, hoping to compete at USA Weightlifting Nationals in 2018. I get incredibly excited about combining movement and strength to move a barbell. I also love being in an environment where people are all working to become better, stronger, fitter and faster. And as a coach, I look forward to helping people move more efficiently and increase their quality of life through movement.”
Jessica is less than a year away from completing her bachelor’s degree in health education from University of New Mexico. After graduation, she plans to teach physical education at the high school level.
